The desks

The people and disciplines behind Nebula

Nebula is produced by a small group of writers, editors and reviewers with backgrounds in exercise science, coaching education, physiotherapy training and journalism. Instead of promoting individual personalities, this page describes the desks, the credentials we ask of reviewers and how responsibility is shared.

Every published article lists the desk that prepared it and the date of its last review. Questions about authorship can be sent through the contact page.

How an article moves through the team

  1. Commission. A desk proposes a topic and lists the sources it intends to read.
  2. Drafting. The writer prepares a first version with references and flags any statement that rests on weak evidence.
  3. Double read. Two editors check facts, arithmetic and tone, with a particular watch for promotional or absolute wording.
  4. External review. A reviewer from the panel comments on accuracy and safety. Disagreements are recorded.
  5. Publication and follow-up. The article is dated, and the desk revisits it at least every six months.
  • Contributors disclose financial relationships that could affect their writing.
  • No contributor writes about a product from which they receive payment.
Our task is to be useful and accurate, and to be honest where the answer is still uncertain. Confidence should follow the evidence, not the other way round.

Contact and credentials

Reviewer credentials are checked before an invitation is extended, and they are re-confirmed each year. Where a reviewer is willing to be named, the name appears at the foot of the relevant article; otherwise the article states the discipline only.

The team works from Jalan Cendrawasih No. 45, Duren Sawit, Jakarta Timur 13440, Indonesia. Calls are taken on +62 856 9317 4825 during business hours in Jakarta, and written questions are answered within seven business days.
